I'm gonna try to seek help here because i don't actually know where to put my hands on, recently on this same forum i was able to fix one of the problems for the Mobo thanks to a handsome user so i think this is the best place to discuss The last ipotesis is having a faulty mobo (PCIe?, chipset?), i'm trying to resolve this problem on the Nvidia forum aswell i will copy paste some of the most relevant things, you can find the topic here So its not just a matter of the VR SDK issue, but also a matter that the implementation is sub par on the steam version.Hi everybody, thank you for helping me c:įor a long time i've been searching for solutions about this problem, i checked everythingi was able to check and changed everything i could to fix this thing. On top of this, there are a few vive and index owners who have stated they have the exact same performance woes as Oculus owners on the steam version, and have used revive to run the Oculus store version of the game and apparently are having a much better experience with it. But it needs to be inclusive for all VR owners. OculusVR and steamVR/openVR are the most viable options. Game devs can help the growth of VR as a technology, but only if they support all the viable versions of it. But both VR SDK's should have been available to use on the steam version of Dirt Rally 2.0. So its good it was added in Dirt Rally 2.0. Everyone should be able to enjoy it in VR without jumping through hoops. Its good they added openVR, that was sadly missing in Dirt Rally 1 on steam. They allowed their customers to buy Dirt Rally 2.0 on steam at the games release, in good faith that the steam version would offer the Oculus support they stated was coming. Not once in 6 months leading up to the release of the VR update did they even remotely hint at OpenVR on steam, and OculusVR only on the Oculus store. Its their game, and they are the ones who mislead the community on the Oculus/VR support of the game. People need to stop placing the blame on Oculus, this one is on Codemasters. We’ll share more in the future once things progress." It’s also not something that can happen immediately or in a very short space of time. "In addition to this, we are currently investigating what is required in terms of time and resources to implement Oculus SDK support into the Steam version of the game.Īdding Oculus SDK support to the Steam version is not a simple matter of flicking a switch, nor is it a case of copy/pasting code from the Oculus version. There is an option for "unknown sources" in the Oculus software for a reason. It doesnt need Oculus say so to use it, but Oculus need to be approve ANYTHING intended for use/sale on the Oculus home store directly. As it stands, any game dev can use the Oculus SDK, its freely available to download from Oculus directly. If it was something Oculus had done, they would have to state they was in discussions with Oculus about adding it to the steam version. I highly doubt it was Oculus doing, since Codemasters released a statement yesterday stating they are looking into the development time it would take to add Oculus to the steam version of the game. I'd look into it but I'm at the 2 hour limit and have to refund this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I've used it before, but like I said most games have oculus versions so havn't had to use it in a while. I've bought maybe 2 games on oculus store that I havn't refunded. This is a problem specific to Dirt Rally 2, and was probably part of the deal with oculus. Sometimes it will just ask you when you start the game. Either by right clicking it in your library, setting a launch option, or opting into a different branch. Most VR games on steam have the option to start the game in oculus mode. I think it will be time to start evaluating 'Index. Facebook does not manage not to do these bad things. But it is a very ugly thing, the Oculus store inflates prices, they almost never go into discount. I had heard about this news but another guy confirmed to me that the Steam version also worked, so I bought it on Steam. are those moves that really make me want to change headset.
